Mathew Hart’s passion of motorsport has been ongoing for as long as he can remember, however it really came of age in January 2002 when he first obtained an Australian Karting Association licence. After showing impressive speed and ability early on, Mathew went on to claim a podium in his very first race and took his first victory soon after in his first Series event in 2002.
Mathew claimed his first of 15 State Championship wins in the Northern Territory in 2004. The 2005 season became even more fruitful with five State Championship victories and Mathew backing up his 2004 wins in QLD, NT and WA. Mathew also claimed the major crowns of NSW and SA for the first time.
Mathew went on to win some of the country's most competitive series events along with numerous other State Championships. Mathew completely dominated during his karting career where he won State Titles in every State and Territory in Australia and also won State Titles in every class he competed in.
From one of Mathew’s last State Championship titles he won a test drive in a Formula Ford. With some very impressive results in the test Mathew was then offered a drive to compete in the Victorian Formula Ford Championship. The Victorian Formula Ford Championship was run over six rounds amongst a very competitive field of drivers from all over Australia.
Mathew’s first formula ford race meeting was held at Winton raceway where he went on to win the round and became the youngest ever at 15 to win a Formula Ford round on debut. He finished off the season as “Rookie of the Year” and came 2nd in the Victorian Championship. This was a great finish to the season before taking on a full National campaign in the 2011 Australian Formula Ford Championship.
Mathew moved on to join the championship winning team of SYNERGY Motorsport for his assault on the 2011 Australian Formula Ford Championship aboard the Australian manufactured Spectrum chassis built in Melbourne. His 2011 season with SYNERGY Motorsport was a great experience with loads of learning in his first national season. After an up and down season luck started to go Mathew’s way mid way through the season to finish strongly by taking out the 2011 Australian Formula Ford Championship “Rookie of the Year”. Previous winners of the Rookie of the Year award were fellow standout first-timers Garth Tander, Jamie Whincup and Mark Winterbottom as winners of the prestigious title.
Mathew is now looking at his assault on the 2012 Australian Formula Ford Championship in the all new Spectrum 014 chassis for the 2012 season and with better aerodynamics and moving to a stronger but lighter material for the chassis, he is really excited to get underway with the season and the signing of his 2nd year with the SYNERGY Motorsport Team.
